If you have dental insurance benefits, you may not be using them to their full advantage. Many plans offer a maximum annual amount that can be used for dental care. If the full amount isn’t used, it won’t “roll over” to the next benefit period. So as the year draws to a close, we encourage our patients to consider using the benefits to which they are entitled.

Our dentists accept many insurance plans, including Delta Dental Premier and POS, Unum, United Concordia, Aetna, Assurant, and many more. To get the maximum benefit from your plan, you will want to:

  • See Us for Preventive Care – Many insurance plans completely cover the cost of exams and cleanings, usually two a year. That’s because they understand the importance of these services in keeping your mouth healthy and avoiding costly restorative treatments. If you or your family members need to schedule an exam and cleaning before the end of the year, do it now!
  • Treat Problems in Early Stages – If problems are discovered, it’s important to treat them ASAP. For example, it’s simple and inexpensive to mend a small cavity with a filing. At our office, we repair many cavities with quick and painless air abrasion instead of a drill. But if a cavity is left untreated, the decay will worsen. You’ll need a dental crown, or even a root canal, to fix the damage.
  • Keep Annual Limits in Mind – As mentioned above, most insurance plans provide a maximum amount of benefits in a year. In many cases, the period lasts from January through December. The amount won’t carry over and “resets” in January. We’re happy to work with you to ensure you receive the maximum benefit you are entitled to, without exceeding it. For example, if you need two crowns for dental repairs that aren’t an emergency, we can space out the procedures so you won’t exceed your annual limit.
